A Different Gospel

The heart of the Christian gospel is the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ alone. The Apostle Paul warned in Galatians 1:8 that any message contrary to the gospel he preached is to be rejected, no matter the source. The Bible teaches that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ—not by works, religious affiliation, or human effort (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:22-24).

Some groups, such as the Watch Tower Society (Jehovah’s Witnesses), add requirements for salvation: gaining special knowledge, obeying laws, belonging to their organization, and evangelizing. While these may be good things, the Bible is clear that none of them can earn us eternal life. Jesus assured the repentant thief on the cross that simple trust in Him was enough for salvation (Luke 23:43). Good works and obedience are the fruit of genuine faith, not the means of earning God’s favor.

Scripture never teaches that belonging to a particular organization is necessary for salvation. Jesus Himself is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). Sharing the gospel is important, but it is not a condition for being saved. Ultimately, salvation is a free gift, offered to all who trust in Christ alone. Any teaching that adds to this simple gospel is, as Paul said, “a different gospel”—and must be rejected in favor of the true message of grace.
