A Different Jesus

Jehovah’s Witnesses, teach that Jesus is a created being, a lesser “mighty god” but not Almighty God, that He is Michael the Archangel, should not be worshipped, and did not rise bodily from the dead. However, the Bible presents a very different Jesus—one who is fully God, worthy of worship, and bodily resurrected.

Scripture teaches that Jesus is not a created being, but the Creator Himself. Colossians 1:16 declares, “By Him all things were created…visible and invisible.” If Jesus created all things, He cannot be a created angel. The term “firstborn” refers to His preeminence, not to being created. This is made clear where in the same passage Jesus is called the firstborn from the dead verse 18. Hence firstborn does not mean created as the Watchtower states.

Jesus is not merely “a god,” but is God in the flesh. John 1:1 says, “The Word was God,” and John 1:14 affirms, “The Word became flesh.” Jesus’ own words and actions, as well as the worship He received (John 20:28; Hebrews 1:6), confirm His divinity. The Bible is clear: there is only one God (Isaiah 43:10), and Jesus shares in the attributes and worship due to God alone.

Furthermore, Jesus is not Michael the Archangel. Hebrews 1:5-8 draws a sharp distinction between Jesus and the angels, declaring of the Son, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.” Angels worship Jesus; He is not one of them.

The bodily resurrection of Jesus is central to the Christian faith. Jesus Himself predicted He would rise in the same body (John 2:19-22), and after His resurrection, He showed His wounds and ate with His disciples to prove He was not a spirit (Luke 24:39-43). The apostles taught that if Christ was not raised bodily, our faith is in vain (1 Corinthians 15:14-17).

In summary, the Jesus of the Bible is nothing like the Jesus taught by the Watchtower. Jesus is the eternal, uncreated Son of God, fully divine, worshipped by angels and men, and bodily risen from the dead. To know and trust this Jesus is to have eternal life (John 17:3).
