L.D.S Leaders

As Christians, we are called to test every spirit and examine the claims of those who would lead us in faith (1 John 4:1). The history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) and its leaders, beginning with Joseph Smith, presents a series of troubling inconsistencies and doctrinal departures from biblical Christianity. The accounts of Joseph Smith’s “First Vision” and the revelation of the gold plates, for example, are riddled with contradictions—not only in the details of who appeared to him and what was said, but even in the very purpose of his prayers. Such confusion is not characteristic of genuine encounters with the living God.

Moreover, LDS doctrine has promoted ideas foreign to the Bible, such as the belief that God was once a man and that humans may become gods themselves. This teaching, openly stated by early LDS leaders and theologians, stands in stark contrast to the unchanging nature of God revealed in Scripture (Malachi 3:6; Isaiah 43:10). Even more concerning is the shifting stance of modern LDS leaders, who at times seem to obscure or downplay these doctrines, raising questions about transparency and truthfulness.

The Bible warns us against following those who preach “another gospel” (Galatians 1:8). When LDS leaders themselves invite us to compare their teachings with the Bible, we find that the foundation of their faith does not withstand the test. The Christian faith rests on the finished work of Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, not on the revelations of men whose stories change with the times.
