LDS Standard works/ Scripture
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) regards four books as scripture: the Bible, the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. However, a careful Christian examination raises serious concerns about the latter three.

The LDS Church claims the Bible is only trustworthy “as far as it is translated correctly,” suggesting widespread corruption of the biblical text. Yet, thousands of ancient manuscripts, including the Dead Sea Scrolls, confirm the remarkable accuracy of both Old and New Testaments. Jesus Himself affirmed the reliability of Scripture (Matthew 5:18; 24:35), and there is no evidence He believed the text was corrupted. Keep in mind the Dead Sea Scrolls date back before him.
The Book of Mormon, presented as a historical record of ancient American peoples, lacks any archaeological or historical support. No evidence has been found for its described civilizations, animals, or technologies. Even the Smithsonian Institution has publicly stated it does not use the Book of Mormon as a scientific guide, and no reputable scholar has found connections between its claims and real history.
Doctrine & Covenants contains failed prophecies, and the Pearl of Great Price’s Book of Abraham has been proven a mistranslation of an Egyptian funerary text, not a lost biblical record. Even some LDS scholars admit Joseph Smith’s translation was mistaken.
In contrast, the Bible stands alone as a historically and archaeologically supported revelation, affirmed by Christ and preserved through the ages.
