Many people today turn to psychics, astrology, horoscopes, tarot cards, and other forms of fortune-telling in their search for comfort and truth about the future. Yet, these practices are not rooted in science—leading scientists have dismissed astrology as unreliable and unscientific. More importantly, from a Christian perspective, these practices are not only ineffective but also spiritually dangerous.

The Bible consistently warns against seeking knowledge or guidance from sources other than God. While some point to the Magi or Daniel as biblical examples of astrology or psychic powers, a closer look shows that these were unique acts of God, not endorsements of occult practices. Daniel, for example, made it clear that only God could reveal mysteries—not magicians or astrologers.

Scripture is explicit: practices like divination, consulting mediums, and fortune-telling are condemned (see Deuteronomy 18:9-15, Leviticus 19:31, Isaiah 8:19). God’s people are called to seek Him alone for guidance, trusting that He alone knows and controls the future. Resorting to the occult is seen as a rejection of faith in God’s sovereignty and a denial of the life of faith.

For Christians, these warnings matter because God disciplines those He loves and calls His followers to obedience (Hebrews 12:6, Luke 6:46). For those outside the faith, the Bible teaches that true wisdom begins with reverence for God (Psalm 111:10), and that salvation is found only in Jesus Christ. Rather than seeking answers from the stars or spirits, the Christian urges all to turn to the One who truly holds the future—God Himself.
